HARDWOOD
The Collins family-owned business traces its roots back to 1855, when T.D. Collins began timber operations in the forests of Pennsylvania. At that time the forest was a softwood forest made up of hemlock and white pine. In the early 1920’s the Collins family moved operations west and did not operate a mill in Pennsylvania during their 43-year absence. In 1966 they restarted Pennsylvania operations by purchasing a mill eight miles from Kane. The current Kane mill was built in 1974.
The new growth of the Pennsylvania forest was hardwood trees and Collins still produces hardwood products sourced from our Collins Pennsylvania Forest. This forest produces many of the finest hardwoods in the world, including Hard Maple, Poplar, Red Oak, Soft Maple, and our highly sought-after Allegheny Black Cherry. Today, our 118,000 acre FSC®-certified Collins Pennsylvania Forest upholds the Collins vision of sustainability, first articulated in 1940.
Manufactured to the highest of standards, our array of hardwood products are available in a broad range of species. Whether we are providing our customers with our domestic or export hardwood, dimension lumber, or any of our custom sawn timbers, we understand our responsibility to uphold the reputation of the Collins name. So, we ensure we are offering quality, sustainable products and exemplary customer service.

CUSTOMER FEEDBACK
Gary Weeks,
After winning the CollinsWood® Award in 1998 for a rocking chair we built from their FSC®-certified black cherry, our business was featured and cited in many publications. This coverage helped to propel Gary Weeks and Company, but the true benefit of the award has been our relationship with Collins. The way they manage their forests and conduct their business continues to inspire us, and their product could not be better in grade or in spirit. Our association with Collins is fundamental to our principles and our success — still building rocking chairs and dining furniture from Collins FSC® cherry.
Crist Troyer,
We have been buying hardwood lumber from Collins for many years. They have been a good supplier to partner with and they provide excellent quality and service. We look forward to many more years of business together!
